Wychwood Festival 2023

The Vision

This festival is evolving rapidly each year, getting bigger and better. This year with a new site and it's biggest line up yet the team wanted to capture the new scale and variety that festival offers. A good time for young families as well as those free spirits looking to let loose.


The site was blessed with glorious sunshine for three straight days and we absolutely made the most of it.

Edit Notes

Championing the audience demographics we used a mix of motion and still portraiture to showcase who the festival aims to please. We also wanted to emphasis the incredible location with bold wide establishing shots, intercutting small community moments in between.

For the Colour Grade the aim was to celebrate the warmth of the weekend as well as making the images incredibly vibrant with strong colour pops. The grade emphasizes the friendly and family inclusive tone of the festival.

Wychwood Festival 2024

The Vision

The biggest Wychwood Festival to date. A new Marketing Lead came in to support sales and ultimately the festival sold out on a 25% increased capacity event months before the gates opened for the weekend. The plan was to repeat the successes of the year before.

On top of this we also delivered a rush cut, edited on site, for the immediate launch of the early bird tickets for 2025. The team did a phenomenal job of getting the right mix of shots whilst making time to ensure we finished our deliverables. It was a point of pride to see the festival growing from strength to strength yet again and to know I had a small part to play in that.

Edit Notes

The bright, saturated vitality of the previous years edit had clearly touched the festivals audience and so it was important to reuse the same grading treatment this year. The weather had been harsh for the first two days of the event so the challenge was to pair as much of the necessary shots with the those from the Final day (Sunday) baked in glorious sunshine.

Feeling confident that we had achieved the same energy, heart, and vibrance from the year before, including portraiture, a slew of candid moments, and this year incorporating as much drone footage as we could to show the scope of this relatively smaller English summertime festival. I look forward to talking with the team as we plan ahead for 2025 and hearing how this approach has landed with customers once again.

The Vision

Our festival video project will transport viewers to a world of vibrant colors, dynamic sounds, and thrilling performances. We aim to capture the energy and excitement of the festival and showcase the diverse range of cultures and traditions represented. Through our video, we hope to inspire a sense of unity and celebration among our audience.

Edit Notes

Incorporate a mix of wide and close-up shots to showcase the scale of the festival while highlighting the smaller details. Use color grading to enhance the vibrant and festive atmosphere, creating a cohesive visual theme throughout the video.

When I became Festival Director and considered our content coverage, it was my first instinct to call Jacob and get him involved.
